I have seen many unusual excuses from Self Assessment Vertice Services clients.
Each year HMRC receives a number of unusual excuses from Self Assessment customers who didn\u2019t complete their tax return on time.
Some of them are very funny, please see below:

HMRC self assessment excuses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. \u201cMy tax return was on my yacht\u2026which caught fire\u201d<\/li>
  2. \u201cA wasp in my car caused me to have an accident and my tax return, which was inside, was destroyed\u201d<\/li>
  3. \u201cMy wife helps me with my tax return, but she had a headache for ten days\u201d<\/li>
  4. \u201cMy dog ate my tax return\u2026and all of the reminders\u201d<\/li>
  5. \u201cI couldn\u2019t complete my tax return, because my husband left me and took our accountant with him. I am currently trying to find a new accountant\u201d<\/li>
  6. \u201cMy child scribbled all over the tax return, so I wasn\u2019t able to send it back\u201d<\/li>
  7. \u201cI work for myself, but a colleague borrowed my tax return to photocopy it and lost it\u201d<\/li>
  8. \u201cMy husband told me the deadline was the 31 March\u201d<\/li>
  9. \u201cMy internet connection failed\u201d<\/li>
  10. \u201cThe postman doesn\u2019t deliver to my house\u201d<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
